Our hosts were incredibly nice, and very kind as I stumbled with my broken French. The property is absolutely gorgeous. I wish we could have stayed longer!
We arrived late and the drive felt like we would never get there. But when we arrived the greetings were over accommodating and fixed us a glass of wine and a light dinner. Very unexpected. Our room was lovely and decorated very French! The room was clean the breakfast was great!
The bed was comfortable and the shower was wonderful.
This is not your usual hotel. This is more like a home. The hostest greeted me when I arrived as a long lost friend and it just got better from there. The room was very nice and had a kitchy decor. My room had a window that you could see the river from. This is not a chain hotel but a home that you will feel at home in. Also, do yourself a favor and get dinner at her place as well.
I was in Angers on business and my wife joined me. We had been booked at a different hotel on the other side of downtown for the first few days, but decided to change locations to be closer to meetings and activities of interest, and to be super close to the train station for early AM departure on our final day. In a nutshell, we were beyond pleasantly surprised by Le Progres. We decided on there because the price was great, it's directly opposite the train station, and reviews seemed good. ...
The setting was unique. Originally hundreds of years old stone farmhouse. Grounds were extensive with vegetation, creek and pond, ponies, goats, etc. And many birds for bird watching. Gourmet restaurant on the premises.
