"Bathroom needed modernising was an unexpected upgrade so really pleased besides that"
High Tor Hotel
10/10 Excellent
"The hotel it's self was lovely traditional windows and front arched doors. Free parking. It was lovely and clean. Nice small cosy room with new bathroom - excellent lovely and clean! The hotel was only about 1/4 hours walk into Matlock bath. There were plenty of pubs and restaurants. Buses were frequent if you needed one. We spent the afternoon in Matlock bath then walked back to hotel which had got a bar and curry restuarant. Excellent meal! Didn't have to go out again. Staff were lovely smiley people. Next day we went to the heights of abaraham which was nt far in the car."

mour Hotel
8/10 Good
"I would have given it excellent as the hotel and room were lovely - clean, modern, spacious and comfortable, except we were kept awake all night with a constant banging and rattling from somewhere - room 408. The breakfast luckily we didn’t have to pay extra for was not great - it was cold, overcooked and half the dishes were empty - had to ask for juice and several items - for the look and design of the hotel which was lovely the breakfast really let it down - if we have had to pay extra we definitely would have complained !"
Sandman Signature Sheffield Quays Hotel

Old Hall Hotel
8/10 Good
"We had booked a twin room as we were attending an event at Buxton Opera House which is literally across the road. The room was clean and tidy. We had a bathroom with bath and shower over bath. The hotel is very old and it’s showing signs of that in certain places. However it is being refurbished slowly I understand having been taken over by Champneys who own the Crescent Hotel which is next door. The breakfast was a good choice and tea and coffee were served promptly. We parked right outside which cost £6 for 24 hours. This enabled us to have a little bit of retail therapy after breakfast and before we left. I had read some horrendous reviews before I booked but knowing the area and thought I would make my own mind up about it. Everything was good given the age of the hotel and much better than using the clinical type hotels like Premier Inns. It’s full of character and history concerning Mary Queen of Scotts. Try it and make your own mind up."
