Learn more about West Jefferson
Tucked into the Blue Ridge Mountains, this small town punches above its weight with artistic flair and outdoor adventure. Admire local masterpieces at downtown galleries before watching cheese being made at Ashe County Cheese Store. The New River beckons with kayaking and fishing opportunities that belie its name as one of America's oldest waterways. Mountain Aire Golf Club offers fairways with distracting mountain views that explain missed putts. Families gravitate to Elk Shoals for swimming holes that feel like nature's own water park. After hiking riverside trails, browse downtown's independent shops housed in historic buildings. Come autumn, the surrounding hillsides burst into a color show that makes even seasoned locals stop and stare.

"Good"
The Embers Hotel
"Was very clean, staff very friendly. We had handicap room worth balcony and was more than I expected. Close to all the shops and eating places so you can walk. We ate their the first night and food was very good. Had small continental breakfast which was plenty good."
Meadowbrook Inn
"We stayed in the annex which was spacious and had a microwave and mini fridge. The elevator was out of service so we had to walk up to our room. We had a king bed which was reasonably comfortable. The room was very spacious and clean but the sun porch furniture was literally shredding. We had put the ac on auto but it never seemed to shut off. It was one large vent in the center of the room blowing on the bed. We had to shut it off at night as it was too drying. Hot water was great and we did take advantage of the pool which was quite large, good for laps. Good wifi and large selection of stations on satellite TV. The hallway carpets were dated and it was surprising to find the entrance door to the annex with no security lock. Also no diet soda in the vending machines. Very convenient location could walk into town. The front desk receptionist gave us a bottle of wine as we were there celebrating our anniversary which was a nice touch. There is a working gas fireplace which is a nice touch. Despite the shortcomings we did enjoy our stay."
Sleep Inn Boone University Area
"Finding the entrance to the Inn from the main road was a little difficult."
Nation's Inn
"They are working on the Inn. The staff were very helpful. The room was okay for the age. I really liked alot of the furniture. Being 76 years old. I hope they will keep alot of the peice. 🤓👋"
Boxwood Lodge
"The motel is clean and not too far from the downtown however we chose not to walk it due to busy road and rain. The room itself could use some side lamps next to the bed. Also they didn’t service our room during our two day stay. We tried to get fresh towels but office is manned only during certain hours. No very convenient. The motel is old school shower and shower head but water pressure was great."
Comfort Suites Boone - University Area
"There is a lot of traffic noise but was a good location with a diner next door. Breakfast was very well done. Lots of options. Room was very comfortable. We have stayed here twice."
Swiss Mountain Village
"Very old property"
