Learn more about Greenfield
Climb the historic Poet's Seat Tower for panoramic views that explain why locals never tire of Franklin County's rolling landscape. Main Street's Federal and Victorian buildings house independent bookshops and cafés where farmers discuss crops while serving their harvest. The Shea Theater's marquee lights up evenings with diverse performances. Energy Park offers a green respite where the Pioneer Valley Symphony sometimes practices outdoors in summer. The annual Franklin County Fair transforms the town with earnestly contested agricultural competitions. Don't miss the Green River Festival, where hot air balloons rise above music stages as the Connecticut River glimmers nearby. Eunice Williams Covered Bridge provides the perfect backdrop for contemplating simpler times.

Latchis Hotel
"The art deco building is gorgeous. I applaud the non-profit organization that saved, renovated and maintains this exceptional building. I very much appreciated the original bathroom fixtures. The hotel really gives you a taste of what it might have been like to travel back in the 1930-40s. On the downside, my experience was not the best: When I arrived, the front desk lady said something like: "I'll be right with you". Two minutes later, she came to the front desk joking about having problems with her Emails. Not acceptable! You should pause your Email activity when someone is waiting in the lobby. My wife and I were looking forward to a drink at the hotel bar. The website indicated that the bar was open, and a note on the door confirmed. There was nobody there. Money and a lady's purse were spread out on the bar. We were told at the front desk that the people running the bar for them decided not to open that evening. Not acceptable. The next morning I took a lukewarm shower, as it took about ten minutes for the water to become warm enough, By then I was done and my feet were in about 5" of dirty water because the drain was clogged. We were also told that if we did not turn in our brass key, they would charge us $75 to replace it. When walked down to the lobby, there was a sign stating that front desk duty started at 9:00."
Hotel UMass
"Hotel U. Mass is a very good place to stay. My only quibble was that"
Hampton Inn Brattleboro
"Staff were extremely friendly. The whole place was clean. Hit tub was really a whirlpool..movement but no bubbles. So nice and warm though. Great stay!!"
Windmill Motel Restaurant

Quality Inn & Suites Northampton - Amherst

Fairfield Inn & Suites Springfield Northampton/Amherst
"I liked all, the location, the quiet room and the breakfast.. THX"
River Valley Inn
"It was a sufficient experience. We had worries when we retrospectively looked at the motel, but I think when the right staff members are there, they show that they care about being excellent in their delivery of good service. They did a fine job overall. Maybe the bathtubs could use a nice scrubbing before people arrive, though. There was a bit of a tub ring."
Inn on Boltwood
"If you like old inns with modern amenities in historic places , this is your place. The beds are comfortable, the restaurant is first rate for breakfast or dinner, and there's a lovely, spacious library with a fireplace for reading or conversation with friends. The front desk staff are universally friendly and helpful, and provide an unlimited number of bottles of Saratoga water, on request. The inn is located alongside a leafy quad that reduces noise from Amherst's main road. Given the inn's age, a guest might experience noise from heavy-footed guests in the room above, but we did not. Noise was not an issue."
