Went here for our honeymoon after getting married on the beach. This provided the perfect intimate, secluded, and romantic setting we both have ever experienced. Room was nicely decorated. Staff was friendly. Nice view out back of room into the woods. We had a 7:00 am tour so we couldn’t utilize regular breakfast. They made us a sandwich, fruit, and juice which was appreciated, but if all that was done, they could have just as easily fed us normal breakfast a little early. Also, a little difficult to check out and still be able to access your car when you return. Overall, enjoyed it!

The breakfast, which was included in the price, was amazing (eggs, toast, butter, jam, juice, and coffee). The facility is new and offers Wi-Fi and parking. The shower had the best water pressure of all the hotels we stayed at during our trip through Costa Rica. Upon arrival, they provide you with a map detailing all the local amenities, including the supermarket and tourist attractions, along with their prices!

The hotel was as I expected. It was clean, safe, and within walking distance to everything Monteverde had to offer. The staff was very pleasant and accommodating. Breakfast was great. The room was clean and tidy at all times.

This was a stunning gem of a hotel! The staff was super friendly and great, the breakfast was out of this world, and the town had so much character. I will warn you, the drive to the hotel is TERRIBLE. Especially if you're an American and used to paved roads! It's a beautiful and unique drive but it's slow going, right by the cliff, and has really rocky roads. Take the Don Juan tour if you want to get a hands-on tour of coffee, sugar cane, and chocolate. Clean room, friendly staff

Great hotel in Santa Elena. In walking distance to restaurants and shopping. Convenient location for visiting Monteverde and other reserves. Nice room, great breakfast.

Parking was excellent, gardens are BEAUTIFUl, breakfast was lovely - plantains were amazing!

Hotel was in a quiet area of Monteverde and you felt very secluded, although you were very close to town and restaurants. The staff was very friendly and helpful with making reservations for the tours we took. Bring some warm clothing as it can get a little chilly in the early morning and at night.

Recently hopped around Costa Rica staying at 7 hotels/hostels. I am talking about premium beach front hotels here and Pensión Santa Elena was decidedly our favorite. Not only was it an extremely affordable room but the service was unbeatable. It is a hostel, so expect a diy wash-your-own-mug type feel. Front desk was very kind and attentive. Our room was simple and clean. Safe location. Shared kitchen space. Good location. Walking distance to big super market and downtown with lots of restaurants.

This hotel was very comfortable and friendly. We had a family style room so our kids had their own beds, which is always a plus. This hotel is an amazing value for the price and we liked that is was just on the edge of the town not in the hustle and bustle of the main town area.
