This is a nice little hotel on a mountaintop. The views are unmatched. The breakfast was a massive spread with good food. The restaurant was excellent. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat.
Do take note that in winter, taking the funicular will cost you 15 minutes just getting up/down the hill. It was 34 CHF for a taxi from St Moritz train station less than 10 minutes away. Bus was like 5.50 and departure was somewhat timed with funicular. So it’s commute from town.

This hotel was the highlight of our fall driving trip. I loved the modern mountain lodge decor and the overall attention to detail. The hotel is new and successully creates a soothing sophisticated atmosphere. It is located up on a hill in a small town next to a lift several minutes drive from St. Moritz. We had room #s 206 & 207 with a connecting door between them. 206 was big with a little balcony. 207 was smaller with a huge terrace over the beautiful breakfast room. Plan on having leisurely breakfasts, absolutely wonderful breakfast fare in a beautiful space. 5 min walk from the station (for bus & train). Hotel provided pickup & drop off from the Samedan train station. The stay at the hotel includes rides to all the local funiculars (5 or 6) of them. These are not covered by the Swiss pass....
What can I say other than I had an incredible 5 night stay!
I enjoyed the included wonderful breakfast spread, hiking 3 days with the included hotel hiking guide, going to the Wellness area, afternoon treats. They will also pick guests up at the Pontresina train station. I had such a marvelous time at Hotel Walther, that I will be going there again next year but for a longer stay.
Charming location in a lovely town within walking distance to extensive trails for easy hikes around two lakes. The hotel provided us with an Ober Engadin pass which made bus rides to St Moritz and part of the train ride to Sils Maria, free. The restaurant in the hotel is Italian and very good.
Great hotel in St Moritz with a wonderful view of the lake below and mountains beyond. We ate dinner there twice, and the restaurant was excellent. However, at the end of May and early June, nearly all other hotels, restaurants, and shops are closed; it's off season.
Arrived after dark after a flight from the U.S. and train to Chur. Stayed one night as we took the Bernina Express the next morning. Hotel is modern and spacious enough and convenient to the train station (8-10 minute walk). Breakfast was very good and early enough to catch the BE which departs at 8:30 AM. There is a good Italian restaurant across a side street from the hotel. Wish we had planned to be in Chur longer as it looked to be an interesting place to explore.
