This was an amazing hotel, the property was beautiful and there are trails for you to explore through the jungle. The rooms were simple and rustic, not too fancy which is exactly what we were looking for. The staff, including Diego, is extremely friendly, kind, and helpful. Would not hesitate to go back!
The Staff here are AMAZING! We stayed for only one night before returning to SJO airport. We needed assistance with transportation and the staff here bent over backwards to make calls and help us. This property is clean and has a nice breakfast. The ONLY negative I would give it - the noise. If you cannot sleep with earplugs, you may want to look elsewhere. Otherwise, you cannot go wrong booking La Fortuna Lodge.

There is nature all around. I very much enjoyed swinging in the hammock looking at nature.
It is about a 30 minute walk to City center, but there are a few restaurants within 10 minutes. There is also a grocery store two minutes away
There is an adventurous "river walk" on property that we enjoyed.
The few cons were the breakfast wasn't the greatest for the price. Also the air conditioner weezed the last day... But we never notified them about it, so can't blame them for...
The staff are friendly and helpful and speak English very well, which helps those without strong Spanish. The grounds are beautiful! The little hiking trail is fun and the multiple hot tubs with some privacy were a nice place to relax. They even serve food and drinks at the pool! The room was clean, beds were comfortable, excellent water pressure and hot water. We especially enjoyed the balcony with a view of the volcano and were impressed with all the food. I was a little worried during the taxi ride to the hotel that I had made a terrible mistake in picking the hotel as some of the areas look a little rough (by American standards), however, once at the gated hotel I realized that I indeed had made a good choice when choosing the location as the property is incredibly calming and beautiful. Just know that since you are out of the city you will need to use Uber eat or a taxi to get food as there is no onsite restaurant.
Host was a family and very friendly and helpful. Property was beautiful. We did have a leak during rain but host was quick to respond and bring towels. We also had a dog barking during the night from next door property but host offered to contact neighbors. Would stay here again. Very neat and unique property.
Upon landing in Liberia, we drove over to La Fortuna for our first night stay in Brisas Arenal. the gravel road to the hotel was bumpy but thats why we rented a 4x4. the hotel personnel was very nice and helpful. The photos don't do this fantastic hotel justice! It's in a beautiful, lush, verdant, vibrant location, a mere 300 meters walk from the stunning La Fortuna waterfall.
While we ate breakfast, several tucans landed about 15 feet from our table in the tree right off the restaurant. Also, an adorable parot named Lola is their indoor/outdoor pet, and comes and visits twice a day to eat and socialize. She's very friendly and sociable.

The villa was magnificient!!! Very spacious bedrooms and bathrooms that are clean and nicely modeled! There is a private swimming pool with a beautiful view the overlooking the mountains and city! This villa is right at the tip of the hiking trail to the Green Lagoon which was extremely convenient. This villa is a must stay if you are visiting Arenal!
