We were traveling from Brittany to a village near Angouleme and decided to try for a stay over in the Loire Valley region. After finding Le Chai de la Paleine in a search for hotels near Saumur we decided to book based on other reviews. It was even better than expected. The property is wonderful and we had the best stay. We didn’t want to leave. The property is a period building that’s been beautifully restored. Our room was spacious and warm. Our bed so comfortable we didn’t want to get up. The host spoilt us for the entire duration of our stay. We will be staying again!!
very quiet location. no restaurant so we had to go into the village. sign said breakfast available at 0630, but the owner would not serve until 0800 and we had to leave without. We suspect too little business to make it worthwhile.
The service was great. The proprietor was wonderful. She was very friendly and made sure we had everything we wanted and needed. The food was great. All homemade. We loved it there
The setting was unique. Originally hundreds of years old stone farmhouse. Grounds were extensive with vegetation, creek and pond, ponies, goats, etc. And many birds for bird watching. Gourmet restaurant on the premises.
We felt like royalty in this fully restored castle the entire time! We stayed for 3 days and it was relaxing and restorative with all the local flora and fauna. Easy to access many of the chateaus, castles, and wineries in the Liore Valley. Our hosts Isabelle and Antoinne were helpful from the initial booking and throughout our stay. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a retreat from the busy city and want to go back to a simpler time.
