We absolutely loved the charm of this place! We didn’t do the breakfast, but we indulge in the onsen, nighttime Ramen, and the ice cream post onsen! The staff was very helpful and kind, and very patient with us using Google translate. We loved our time here!
I booked this hotel while in Tokyo. 3 hours later, I was at the hotel. The JR station is literally right down the street from this location. The hotel was clean, more modern the the other hotels I have stayed in while in Japan. The person who was on duty knew I was coming and addressed me although I checked in at 0200. When I go back to Mt Fuji, I am staying here.
Hakone Suisen provided the best service I expected. The staff were really kind and friendly, the facility was clean and nice, onsen(both inside and outside) were great, and they even provided simple breakfast!
Onsen is not big as normally depicted in Japanese media(movie/drama) but the water source is outstanding.
Unfortunately, it is difficult to access other restaurants/cafe from the location by public transport, so I HIGHLY recommend you to enjoy your dinner at somewhere else before...
Amazing dinner in the hotel restaurant. The Wagyu beef was melt in your mouth fantastic. Great wine. The private onsen was perfect and so relaxing at the end of the night. Super comfortable bed and spacious room. Wish I had booked two nights. My only complaint is the coffee in the room is more espresso style and I love a big hearty cup of coffee in the morning. The hotel doesn’t offer coffee in the lobby which is a bummer. We didn’t add breakfast just because we don’t usually do breakfast....
This was my first trip to Japan, I had to make some last minute itinerary changes and came upon Dormy Hot Springs. The room was a little smaller than I expected - by traveling solo I needed a clean comfortable space, this was perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful to an American who spoke no Japanese. The breakfast buffet was exceptional plus to the stay.
That’s a more authentic review if the food wasn’t actually a highlight for your family:
We stayed at Shiunso Ryokan as a family with two young children and overall had a pleasant experience.
The ryokan is definitely an older property and shows its age in some areas, but it has a traditional atmosphere that many travelers may appreciate. The staff were welcoming, and the stay gave us an opportunity to experience a classic Japanese ryokan.
One of the biggest advantages of this location is its...
I loved this hotel, wish I could stay longer. Lovely common areas to relax both indoors and outdoors, free drinks and snacks, alcoholic at night, as well as a lovely array of desserts in the evening. Everyone walking around in their yukatas provided by the hotel gives a very relaxing vibe. I enjoyed both the communal (had it to myself) and private onsens. It was nice that the private pnsen had a window to see nature outside. The outdoor terrace with footbath was also lovely, with...
The room and lobby were clean, and the hotel’s close proximity to Numazu Station made getting around very convenient. Breakfast featured some delicious local seafood, which was a great highlight of the stay. I would absolutely recommend this hotel.
