Good location, comfortable, has everything you need but the grand dame is showing her age a bit. Decor could do with some freshening up.

Clean room Shower good Bathrobes a plus Fully cooked breakfast incl.served at table, although service was slow at 09.20am Location parliament station 50metre walk from entry. Would stay again, as it offers old fashioned service. No glass or chrome, minimal ambience, this hotel offers old world character.

6/10 Good

I get it - it’s a 150 year old hotel. Lots of history. I love that in a museum. But it’s 2026. We have better stuff now. Creaky, old carpet, ancient lifts, noisy floorboards, low water pressure, you feel like you’re staying at a museum. Much could be done to bring this place up to speed to last another 100 years, without sacrificing its charm and heritage.

This was an experience, if you want up to date modern this hotel is not for you , this hotel was a fantastic experience walking up to my room there was a gentleman playing the piano and the breakfast and high tea were excellent, with the staff wearing maid’s outfit of yesteryears and memorabilia all around, it felt like I stepped back in time .

We weren’t sure where to stay and lucked out with this beautiful grand hotel. It is showing a little wear here and there, but it is a timeless hotel. Our room was huge with very tall ceilings. The beds were comfy. The whole experience just felt grand. I’d stay again.
