The Aurora Igloo was our favorite hotel while in Iceland! The uniqueness and setting could not be beat. It was conveniently located from the Ring Road and was set in a beautiful meadow with horses and cows grazing from afar. The sunset was beautiful. On the east side, you could see the snow capped mountains. While there was no restaurant on sight, there were options not far away. The host left a welcome note for us providing all information. There was plenty of heating, so we were never cold. The bed even had a remote controll heating feature, but we did not need it. The bedside lights were adorable! They provided a coffee maker that included coffee, tea and hot chocolate. There was even a mini fridge, which we didn’t see often in other hotels. The shower was very narrow but adequate. The only thing missing was a shelf to put toiletries and a bath mat.
Our only disappointment was that there had actually been northern lights visible the evening we were there according to our neighbors, but we didn’t think to look for them as it was August. Next time, we will be on the look out for sure!
