After weeks of consideration, I settled on The Evelyn to stay with my partner. Location-wise, it was within walking distance of three reservations I had made: Rezdôra, Lysèe and Clemente Bar at Eleven Madison Park. We had arrived on a red eye flight from California at 7am. They tried to accommodate us with an offer for a suite upgrade and morning check-in, but we declined. We checked our luggage in with the concierge, received a ticket and then headed out to lunch. Upon returning, the friendly and understanding ladies at the desk checked us in. We also received breakfast vouchers for the cafe to use between 7am-11am. We also received a nice gift from the front desk.
Later that night after catching Glengarry Glen Ross on Broadway, we picked up some Vietnamese food on the way home. There were no utensils inside the bag, so I went downstairs to find some. The hostess at the Tusk Bar and Restaurant was very kind, and brought out a full set of silverware in a cloth napkin and told me that I could just leave it in the room. The next morning, I figured I would use the breakfast vouchers downstairs. Surprisingly, they were serving fresh orange juice and egg sandwiches made to order along with chocolate croissants, coffee, and other items on a set menu for hotel guests. There were so many amenities provided during our stay that we left with a very favorable impression. I highly recommend The Evelyn to anyone staying in Manhattan.
