We arrived after midnight because of a 4hr flight delay. We were met at the front door by armed security. When the front desk clerk finally came out, we were checked in and went straight to our room on the 2nd floor, exhausted. When we got off the elevator it looked like we were in a storage locker. Beds, mattresses, pillows were piled along the walls in the hallway. Our sink was cracked, and the bathroom floor was disgusting. In our room, was a note telling us that the 2nd floor of the hotel is used for international students and we should respect their privacy and customs. And sorry about the messy hallways, but this floor is "shared space" and differs from other guest areas. Why were we lucky enough to get this sloppy shared space? I didnt pay to stay in someones dorm and should have been made awake beforehand. And to then tell us to respect "their space?" It was quiet, we were really tired or I would have requested another room. The carpet was new, and bed linens were clean, so we went to bed. In the morning, the bathroom seemed too scary to shower in, so we left and showered at our next stop along the way. Why were we put on the 2nd floor? We certainly didnt receive a discount for the room we booked months earlier, nor were we told of the shared living situation. Perhaps rooms on other floors were more amenable, but the 2nd floor space was not.
