The Don is a far cry from the historic past of grandeur & luxury. It was nothing short of 3 days of chaos, no VIP amenities, no robe/slipper, the spa, sauna and whirlpool all not working, one pool closed, although they recently reopened “post renovation” it was clearly a hurried job with hallways dripping of coats of paint piled on top of each other, dirty linens that had to be returned, limited food options, unorganized “activities”. While I can appreciate needing to reopen from a fin ops perspective, compensate by discounting the rooms or limiting number of guests on property to the remodeled sections only. They have a long way to go and need management on board to execute a clear vision, mission, direction and need more staff training. The pro of the hotel is the beach but at the end of the day, there are other options with more amenities who can execute what is supposed to be a “VIP” stay.
