Attention to detail is the theme at this tastefully decorated, impeccably clean home. The host will freely offer guidance and directions, including maps and guide books, and the hostess is an excellent cook. Breakfasts were above average (even for France) as were the two dinners we reserved, in terms of both food and presentation. We were so comfortable with the hosts, we invited them to join us for the second dinner, and they graciously did so. We will not forget the kindness of the hostess, who helped us out when we were unable to gas up our rental car.
You will need to call ahead to arrange to get onto the property, as the gate is locked at all times. On check-in, you will get keys to the gate and house. The host is very conscientious about security.
Outside the big city, the property is easy to find. There are no amenities within walking distance, so you will have to drive. There is a grassy sloped area with trees you can stroll onto behind the house. We spent a few hours looking onto this area from the terrace, bird watching, an interest the hostess had in common with us.
Our room was above the dining room, connected by a tightly winding staircase. If this is a problem, you should ask if another room is available.
We left Maison Blanche feeling like we had found new friends.
