I am awarding the SpringHill Suites by Marriott Dallas Downtown/West End two stars primarily for its excellent location. Situated directly opposite the Dallas World Aquarium and within walking distance of the city's major museums, the location is a significant draw. However, please be aware that the area is populated with homeless individuals, which can be unsettling.
Our decision to choose this hotel was largely influenced by the advertised swimming pool. However, upon arrival, we were disappointed to find that no such facility existed. Despite our complaints, the management seemed indifferent and we received no satisfactory resolution.
On a positive note, the hotel does offer breakfast. Furthermore, some members of the housekeeping staff were very kind and helpful.
It should be noted that the hotel is currently undergoing renovation, leading to some inevitable inconveniences. However, the failure to maintain cleanliness in the common areas, particularly the elevators, cannot be excused by this fact. The layers of dust in the elevator remained untouched throughout our four-day stay, despite being a simple and quick cleaning task.
Perhaps the most disappointing aspect of our stay was the staff at the front desk. They were, in our experience, rude and unhelpful. We had a particularly unpleasant encounter with one staff member.
