Excellent location just outside the city centre on a main road. Surprisingly quiet considering. Check-in desk is through the main entrance, to the left of the bar. Ignore the 'hotel' sign outside the dining entrance. Process was quick and finding my room was easy.
Typical for a Victorian building the hallways and stairs were a bit squeaky and you could hear some noise from adjoining rooms, but people were very considerate and it never got too much. Room looked like it had been redecorated fairly recently and was in excellent condition overall. Bed was comfy and room temp was perfect. Nice selection of hot drinks but no biscuits. Bathroom was spacious and clean. Telly could access all the usual channels but the YouTube and Netflix options didn't work (couldn't connect to internet). There was plenty of parking available and access to the accomodation is possible with your room key via a door from the rear car park when the pub is shut. Breakfast looked like a very good deal but I had other plans.
Main issue was getting the shower to work. You have to rotate the on/off knob towards you for the shower, but this was not at all obvious and I ended up having to go downstairs and ask at the bar. Also the hot water boiler appears to be a long way away, which, combined with fairly low water pressure, meant it took a very long time to get any hot water through.
