Overall, the Canad Inns Portage la Prairie was great. It was clean, big, and felt like a place locals came to for a fancy night out.
The hotel is clearly renowned for their pool, and while our 4 year old thoroughly enjoyed it, it also had serious drawbacks: too cold to stay in for long, awkwardly shallow for adults, and no supervision which meant some kids were running wild.
Another MAJOR drawback was that none of the rooms had exterior windows. Just one window to the hallway, which meant drawn drapes the entire stay. It felt like we were in a cave.
I would still recommended this hotel to anyone staying in Portage, as it seems like the best option available, especially if traveling with kids. It also had a decent buffet restaurant and tavern on site, so the convenience can’t be beat.
