Uji Tea Inn is a lovely place to spend a few nights or more in Japan if you’re looking for a bit of an ‘authentic traditional’ living situation as opposed to a more western style room/hotel. The staff were lovely and the surrounding town of Uji is a wonderful humble suburban town that has just about everything you may need. I would absolutely stay here again if I were coming back to the Kyoto/Osaka area!

It was harder to find due to it being kind of tucked away with a lot less signage/lighting than i was expecting as the door was locked when we arrived so we were uncertain if we were in the right place.

This is a lovely place to stay if you’re visiting Kyoto. There are two stations within a 15 minute walk, so traveling anywhere is quite easy. There is a kitchen so that you can cook (or in my case, warm up my conbini breakfast), as well as laundry. The staff is very kind and helpful. I really enjoyed staying here away from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto city.

Service is really good. The inn is small and cosy with unlimited tea and coffee for guests. I really like the Japanese decor in the inn. The only downside is there is no noise proofing so you will hear every noise anyone makes. If you don't intend to sleep in, then it's not an issue.
