I was really excited at the prospect of staying in a quaint “aparthotel” situated so close to the High Museum and walking distance to a ton of great restaurants. That was about the only perk of our trip. When we arrived, the courtyard which could have been so inviting, was filled with dead plants and a fountain with a trash can lid on the top of it. Parking was also a joke- the garage is under the property and you can barely drive through it! The front desk employee checking us in made sure to tell us “no smoking” and the irony was, everywhere we went on property, we smelled cigarettes or weed, even in the entryway of the lobby. One time we got into the elevator and it was obvious someone had just been smoking weed IN the elevator by the lingering smoke and smell. There is also a terrifying noise in the elevator every time you pass floor 2. When we got to our room, we could hear running water… the bathtub hot water would not turn off. We went back down to change rooms and the front desk clerk was actually very helpful and even upgraded us to a loft which was very kind. The bed was comfortable but everything else needed some updates and attention to detail, just as the rest of the hotel does. The toilet actually felt unstable like it wasn’t secured to the floor…? On the morning we were leaving, we could smell weed again while in our bedroom (from the vents??)! Not the most pleasant stay but we still managed to enjoy our overnight trip.
