The staff were extremely helpful & pleasant. However, we thought we had booked a pretty, old country hotel, whereas in reality it felt like an upmarket motel. Our room wasn’t in the beautiful old building but was a walk across the grounds to an unattractive row of modern rooms. The ‘terrace’ for each room (mentioned in the hotel info) was a small patio with high walls on each side & a row of very conifers on the third side, so no pleasant view at all. The room was clean, but clearly needed some maintenance work to be done. The entrance to the room showed a damp area up the wall, & in the toilet the ceiling was merely plasterboard, unfinished & unpainted. There was some sort of large pipe coming from the ceiling into an uneven drain on the floor which made the bidet unusable. The outdoor (small) pool was unheated & the indoor pool was too small to do any swimming at all. The grounds were beautiful & well maintained, & there was plenty of parking, some of which was sheltered, which was a great bonus. Overall, if we had known more details of the property we would not have chosen to come to stay.
