Casa das Lérias is a beautiful hotel with comfortable rooms, a lovely pool, and an excellent breakfast. The property itself deserves high praise.
Unfortunately, the hospitality did not match the quality of the hotel. At breakfast, I was barely greeted and was immediately told to sit outside. When I said I preferred to eat inside, two employees discussed me in Portuguese, assuming I wouldn't understand. I do understand Portuguese, and I found it very unprofessional to talk about a guest instead of addressing them directly. Once I told them I understood, their attitude changed and they brought me a small dessert as an apology.
I was also never given any information about Amarante or the hotel's amenities, and I had to figure out on my own how to get pool towels.
This is a wonderful hotel, but the customer service lacks the warmth and professionalism I expected. With better hospitality, it would easily deserve 5 stars.
