Stayed 4 Nights – Honest Review from a Frequent Global Traveler
Having stayed in hundreds of hotels worldwide, from 2-star properties to 5-star resorts, I try to judge fairly based on what is promised.
I stayed 4 nights at Golden Beach Resort in Krabi and gave it 2 stars.
⭐ 1 star for the location — right on the beach and walking distance to restaurants and shops in Ao Nang. Excellent location.
⭐ 1 star for the pool and its beautiful view. However, the pool is open only 9 AM–6 PM. Closing before sunset and not opening earlier for morning swimmers is not 4-star standard.
Everything else feels like 3 stars at best.
WiFi: Essentially non-existent. Speed tests showed about 1 Mbps — not enough even for WhatsApp. Rooms far from the lobby had zero signal. I complained daily and was told “the technician is on the way.” The “technician” seemed to be the same gentleman handing out pool towels, occasionally going to “reset the router.” Nothing improved. Do not expect working internet.
Rooms are outdated: worn doors, old flooring, poor lighting, cheap plastic balcony chairs. Even the bathroom door forces itself shut.
Only one key card is provided, so you cannot charge devices while out. The suggestion? “Charge in the lobby.”
If you want a 3-star hotel with great location and pool, fine. If you expect a real 4-star resort experience — not here.
