(Two stays, total 1 1/2 weeks)d: I’ve lived 3 years in Germany in the past, speak German well and have returned there more than 30 times so this is no Ugly American writing. One gets the impression that Premier Hotels have written off the senior market segment and show a strong preference for the smartphone generation. There are no guardrails in the shower and its floor is extremely slippery when wet. How one works the shower temperature controls is subject to trial-and-error. There is no phone in the room, hence no way to contact the front desk except by personal telephone. Toilet paper seems cheaply manufactured. The coffee is great but instructions for using it are cryptic. According to the front desk the heating is not turned on until 31 October, which sounds absurd. Wi-fi connection is weak and unpredictable and the mini fridge is more micro than mini. Meals from the restaurant cannot be charged to the room nor is there a computer terminal provided for guests to print out their boarding passes. While the room itself is clean and well illuminated and the front desk people are most pleasant, this hotel is deficient in the areas listed above. Finally, it’s location is terrible unless you are there to do business locally. There are few eating places accessible on foot and a convenient ATM machine is nowhere to be found.
