We had some noisy neighbours but the staff very kindly moved us to a quieter room.

The best thing about the hotel was the rooftop pool! The buffet for bfast and dinner was very nice.
Unfortunately the rims, while clean, were very dated.

This hotel is in a great location. We were able to walk to the ferry port. It is walking distance to the bus station. The dinner buffet was excellent. There were many varieties of food. Our room was clean and faced Lake Akan. A great place to stay!

Clearly when this hotel was new, it was a fabulous place. However, the property is now extremely dated, with 80s style decor throughout, and most seriously, poorly-maintained rooms containing worn and damaged furniture. The bathroom fittings have their original chrome scrubbed away. The towels were provided in multiple colours.
The staff were very helpful, and were not at fault at all.
The onsen facilities, while dated and in need of a refresh, were good. Although staying for two nights, we were unfortunately unable to sample the rooftop pool as it was closed due to high winds, when the wind was certainly not a problem on one day.
The saving grace was the breakfast, which was plentiful and provided lots of choice.
If you are aware that you're going to stay at a place possibly not refreshed since the 1980s, it's ok, but otherwise you may prefer to pay a little more and be sure of reaching a reasonable minimum standard.

The property is a mixed bag the food and staff were excellent. However the room was was in very poor condition and badly overdue for refurbishment. For the amount of money charged the rooms will be a definite disappointment.

The staff was friendly, but the room and the dinner buffet was not up to standard! The hotel itself it's really old it needs a makeover all around. Luckily it was for one night only.....

Overrated For Price
The front desk was a little standoff ish. I arrived at 9pm and you would have thought the world was ending. Just a massive hotel with a lot of people. The onsen was super crowded and lots of the surrounding restaurants close earlier than mentioned. A bit pricey for the style of room, but very limited availability in the area.

It should be renamed the Old Akan Hotel, as the rooms are probably 1960s in style and amenity. It was definitely overpriced, given the small bathroom and bedroom. The bathroom was so small, there was not even space to put bottles of shampoo and body soap. These were provided in sachets. The hotel seems to have had a facelift on the outside and in the lobby and restaurant areas, but the rooms were ordinary. Not worth the money charged.
Matsalen var överbelastad och fullt av matos i hela lokalen. Det var en stor buffé men maten var rätt dålig. Det var inte heller speciellt städat på hotellet utan det kändes väldigt nedgånget.
