Ocean View is a charming, restored Victorian (actually, TWO Victorians as we found out) set a quick walk from the shore and the Asbury Park boardwalk. Our room was in the building across the street from the one pictured. While the room was "cosy," it didn't feel small, and it and the bathroom were redone in classic colors and appointments. No view to speak of, but we were only there for one night and spent most of our time touring the boardwalk and the shopping park in Ocean Grove. Breakfast was in the main building and offered a variety of treats.
The hotel is set on a beautiful, broad expanse that leads to the ocean and the boardwalk. If you're a Springsteen fan, you owe it to yourself to walk the full length, up through and past the convention center to find all the locations in the song "Sandy."
The only caveats are parking and accessibility. Parking is on the street, so be sure to read the signs so you don't get a ticket. Also, there is no elevator and the stairs are from another era: steep and narrow. Getting your bags up and down might prove challenging if you have a disability or are out of shape.
We were fortunate to travel during the off-season. According to some of the locals, the whole place becomes a zoo during the summer. Would gladly stay again for the charm and the location.
