The room was fine, albeit somewhat basic (no fridge) - however, the breakfast was terrible. Very poor quality ingredients (the cheapest catering sausages you can imagine) and zero options for healthy eating. The only bread on offer was a cheap sliced white loaf, no fresh fruit, and none of the cheese/meats/salads that are usual in hotel breakfast buffets.
The worst part was the eggs situation. The only option was scrambled egg, because there are no fresh eggs on the premises - so no option for poached, fried, boiled. This is because the hotel uses pre-processed bulk scrambled egg, re-constituted in the kitchen and served in a huge tray, with egg swimming in a watery liquid.
I raised this with the hotel whilst still on premise, and received a prompt reply from the manager stating that they follow company guidelines and pointing out that breakfast is included in the room-rate - as if this justifies serving really poor quality slop with no options to choose healthy nutritious food. He was basically saying "it's free, so what do you expect?". Well, it's not free, it's built in to the price paid for the room - and the quality should be an embarrassment to the the Hilton brand.
