For the price point we weren't expecting luxury, but we did expect the basics.
The room was not clean. The top sheet on the bed was dirty. Dark hairs were on it and on the bed sheets. While the sheets smelled like they had been washed, they were obviously old and had dirty stains on them. The room was overall in disrepair with large marks on the wall, rusted metal, water damage, wires sticking out of the wall, and a broken lock on the door. There was hair and dirt on the floors, especially in the corners.
The heater was completely off and the fridge was unplugged (perhaps to save some money?). The room was NINE degrees when we entered (-12 outside) and it took 2-3 hours before a normal temperature was reached. We went to bed with hoodies on to be warm enough. When we opened the fridge door, water poured out on to the floor because the small freezer had thawed.
The breakfast was much smaller than you would expect based on comparable hotels/motels we have stayed at, so we skipped it and went to McDonald's instead.
