WOW!! I rented a cabin on the ocean side of the hotel, and it was WONDERFUL hearing the ocean crashing from my bed each morning and evening. I live in Guatemala, so my standards for facilities have been affected accordingly. This is a beach cabin with a thatch roof and you CAN SEE through the cracks on the floorboards. This area of Guatemala is HOT all year round, but there is a fan in the cabin which helps immensely. The bathroom was not fancy, and you could see the ground beneath the shower drain, but again... I am used to a different standard living in Guatemala so it didn't bother me.
The hammocks along the beach are AWESOME and there are plenty of little places to sit, read, and relax. There are NO televisions although I had cell phone service (Tigo). This is a place to GET AWAY and relax, and that's exactly what I did there. The staff is extremely helpful, kind, and patient. My visit was in February 2017 and the hotel had suffered some damage from a storm at the end of 2016, so there were repairs being made and the pool was not "open" during my visit. However, from the looks of the work the place will be EVEN BETTER and MORE BEAUTIFUL in the near future.
Do keep in mind this hotel is located on an island. You will NEED to use a lancha (private boat) to reach the hotel. I called the hotel and they have a private boat that will pick you up from the dock at the end of the road. Their lancha was about half the price of the other lanchas (Q150 for pick up and drop off) .
