Location and view are great - relatively close to good restaurants - would love to see better grounds maintenance - more updated - it's an older hotel - but the price is on target.

The owner and staff were wonderful. There is lots of defered maintenance, but it looks like they are starting to work on that.

Utterly charming. Quaint and quiet. Beautiful villa. Private outdoor seating area adjacent to our room was a real bonus as the weather in Aijijic is always so pleasant.
Staff was friendly and professional.
This is my 5th time traveling to this area but the first time at this hotel. I will definitely be staying here for any future trips.

Quaint and comfortable
This quaint establishment is located right on the shores of lake Chapala within walking distance to shops and restaurants. The grounds are lovely and the rooms are currently being updated one at a time so I look forward to seeing the changes on future visits. The breakfast was first rate and the staff were helpful and friendly and the room we had was cute for a short stay of a day or two. The larger villas are better suited to longer stays.

The cutest villas ever. The outside common area is very well maintained and has a panoramic view of Lake Chapala. The room was very comfortable although would have preferred AC over the fan. Breakfast was so yummy! There’s very little parking and did drive around a couple times before finding the front of the hotel…that was a little confusing! Would definitely stay here again. Staff was very accommodating, letting us check in much earlier.

The property has a good potential, needs to update and add new services, which I was told are in the way.
The employees were friendly, specially a girl called Alexandra, she was very helpful.

pool hours are too late (starts at 10 AM) and at that time sun is very hot and closes at 7 (too early). staff needs to be more informative for things you can do around and suggest better ways for transportation. Even when asked information received was poor and there was no pamphlet or something similar to provide information to visitors that don't know the area and visiting for the first time.

Good location but has maintenance problems. One pool was being worked on, noisy jackhammers during the day.
In the room the smell of sewer was so bad we left after two days even though we paid for three. I guess the three air fresheners should have been a clue. We were offered credit for the third night but I can't think of a reason to ever return.

Likes: friendly staff in breakfast! They took our orders and cooked wonderful Mexican breakfasts. Fresh fruits, coffee, and fresh juices available. Laundry service was wonderful. The pools were nice to swim in and had nice courtyards. Nice patio attached to room.
Dislikes: shower drain plugged and always filled up while showering-yuck. Drawers would get stuck while opening. Very few electrical sockets but they worked. Two full size beds but rooms are small. The cable was very unclear- poor reception.

Unexpected Sewer Smell
Overall the place is not too bad but the sewer smell in the room (bathroom area) was awful. It was very obvious why! There is no P trap on the bathroom sink (straight connection line into wall) consequently the terrible sewer gases permeates the bathroom area. Fortunately with windows open on two sides the fresh air moved the smell from bathroom to outside. I plugged the sink drain and put a wet facecloth over the overflow drain holes which more or less controlled the stench when covered. It was different story while using sink. The breakfasts included were good. As I only stayed for two days, I did not feel it was worth trying to get resolved while there.
