Amazing place. Oldest continuously operating hotel in DC. Wonderful ambiance and charm along with a top notch restaurant and a cozy, welcoming fireplace lounge. It is a European-style boutique hotel with 35 rooms, each of which is different and special in its own way, with an eclectic mix of antiques, artwork, and room colors. There are no televisions in the rooms, no elevators and those who need to do some work on their laptops and don’t want to do so on a coffee table sitting on an antique couch with an extra pillow stuffed behind their backs or on an antique secretary’s desk can use one of the tables in the fireplace lounge or overflow dining rooms. One meets people who have a favorite room and have stayed at the Tabard Inn for 30 or 40 years, or had their wedding reception there, or attended one of the many charitable and special events that are held throughout the year. Since it is majority employee-owned, by people who feel that they are part of a family, they tend to take more care in going about their jobs, and pay attention to the little things that that make their guests smile.
