The hotel is in a lovely setting with a large garden surrounded by mature trees. The breakfast was good. The staff were very welcoming, including Lyndsay at reception, who was very friendly and helpful.

The property, decoration, fittings, fixtures and furnishings are quite dated, don't expect a modern contemporary hotel. That said, the property is undergoing a programme of repair and refurbishment, it looks like a long job. The hotel was perfectly adequate for our short stay, we didn't have dinner but what we saw looked delicious, we can vouch the same for breakfast in which we did partake. Would we stop again, yes I think we would.

Outside Wall - Gatez had a lot of scaffolding but the room was great -top quality local bath products & tea tray items The room had been refurbished with new carpets & Bathroom was nice & fresh One of the best breakfasts I’ve had / high quality continental breakfast plus cooked to order hot breakfast made for a lovely stay The front of hotel is have extensive work fine but the rear of property well maintained & lovely grounds Staff were very personable & helpful too

Hotel was good but fire alarm went off on first night at 2.30 in the morning and shower was cold first night but they did get it sorted for next day

The lady on reception was lovely, they were extremely busy but our rooms were ready early. Breakfast was great and freshly cooked. Parking was easy, but the entrance to the hotel was easily missed due to scaffolding, we drove past twice. But overall was a very good from start to finish

Really clean and comfortable. Room nice and big. Temporary parking for a car to unload/load, main hotel and parking a short walk away (this will get easier when current building work on the street is complete). Steps into property so not ideal if mobility is a problem for you, but it's an old building). Only downside was the wifi didn't work, but there's an adequate mobile signal and we didn't come here to experience the wifi so not a problem). Would definitely use again.

We stayed in the White Swan part of the lodge which is said to be 100 meters from main building. I was expecting this to be in the grounds but it is a walk down the main road which was having road works done so difficult with cases and having to walk on the road. The room itself was clean and large. The restaurant back in the main lodge was small and quaint. The menu was your basic foods such as lasagna or roast dinner all served by a lovely young waitress. Staff were all extremely helpful.

Det er et meget gammelt og hyggeligt sted, med løbende vedligehold. Værelset var fint og rent, med rengøring hver dag. Personalet er utroligt hjælpsomme og venlige, det betyder også at bar og betjening var i topklasse, ligedan med morgenmaden, så vi kan kun varmt anbefale stedet.

On arrival the staff were lovely. We stayed in the white swan. The bedding was spotless. The room is tied and in need of decorating. There's a smell of damp and unfortunately we didn't feel comfortable opening the windows as we were on the ground floor, which is directly onto the street. We've stayed in the hotel before, which we enjoyed. But unfortunately we won't stay in the white swan again!

Its such a beautiful boutique hotel. The rooms were so big and spacious with everything you need. The bar and breakfast/dining room restaurant really yum. Wonderful views, lovely gardens, free parking. Wild life on the lawns whilst having dinner. I loved it. The only drawback, it is not good water pressure for shower, but the bath was massive.

A lovely old mansion undergoing renovation and upkeep in keeping with it's age. Scaffolding on the outside wall which made the entrance rather difficult to find especially as the sign was rather small. Lovely room, stone which kept it cool (much appreciated) but of course no double glazing which made it noisy from the families shouting and drinking with the children screaming and running, as they do! Actually the adults were louder than the children! Bed was comfy, room had both a fan and a heater, towels were plentiful and shower, when I worked out how to get hot water, was good. Lovely sitting area, plenty of parking so overall, recommended

We stayed in the lodgings that’s part of the old lodge . There’s no parking not easy to find. Our room was number 29. Upon entering the carpet is filthy the room was covered in dust there was hair in the bath. The velux window blind was broken. The main window did not close properly the window didn’t open properly because of the guttering. We booked 2 rooms for 6 people but only got a double bed in each.

Some refurbishment going on but this did not interfere with our stay. The breakfast was excellent as was the evening meal. The bar was well stocked and a marvelous selection of spirits. The room was very well maintained and comfortable.
