We booked a room via Hotels.com, received confirmation, and thought everything was fine. Only one hour later – in the evening – the manager called to say there was no vacancy after all. He offered only a family room for €30 more.
When I asked if he could cancel the booking, he said no, that I had to do it myself. Since the booking was under a no-cancellation policy, this left me trapped: either pay extra or lose everything. It felt like being held hostage.
The quality of the hotel certainly does not match the price we paid. The breakfast was good and the service staff friendly, but the overall experience left us feeling scammed.
Would not recommend, especially given the way the booking was handled.
