Shame it is being run to ruin
Such a shame that this place is being run into the ground. Our stay was literally like an episode of Fawlty Towers. They are short staffed and the poor staff have way too much to do the waitress was acting as receptionist, front of house, server, bar lady, clearer and waitress. The staff were hopelessly unaware of intolererences in particular gluten free in our case. The GF cheeseboard ended up being cheese on GF toast. The black pudding which was clearly not GF was thankfully incinerated to a crisp so inedible anyway and the prosciutto asparagus was like crispy bacon. The rooms are very tired and the showers do 50°c or zero °c and nothing in between. Sorry, we will not be back

Stunning place
Beautiful old building on the NC500. Simply stunning, from the long driveway and grounds to the grand lounge and dining areas. Bedroom was an impressive size with tasteful period style decor. Staff were all great, food was superb.

Nice stay, great food but needs window screens…
We thought our sons would enjoy staying in a castle but I was wrong. The building was quite a bit rundown and had no AC. It would have been ok if we could have had the windows open but there were no screens on the windows so the room filled up with gnats. Thankfully the service was excellent and we were able to gets fans for the rooms which certainly helped. The food and drinks were delicious! We also enjoyed the property and the ponies.

Beautiful location
Beautiful grounds and location. The hotel restaurant was closed so just a limited bar menu and it would have been good for that to have been disclosed prior to arrival. The highland cow kids toys on arrival was the sweetest gesture! Overall we enjoyed the stay :)

Booked this stay for its Castle description for a special celebration. Everyone on the staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed. Some may call this place ‘dated’ but imo it was elegant in a hunters lodge/castle-y way. Beautiful bathroom, large room and comfortable bed. Nicely appointed with 2 desks and club chairs and table with view of the grounds. Petted ponies and saw bunnies. Great food. Thank you Chef for the sweet treats! Thank you Joy for the nice room assignment. Thank you to Salil and Alison and to those that we didn’t know your names. What fun!

The apartments are very modern and comfortable and we enjoyed the location. It was very quiet and the view of the loch was very nice. The manager was very responsive when I had questions and provided recommendations for restaurants that were convenient to our travel plans. I highly recommend this apartment to anyone visiting the area.

Of all the 8 venues we stayed in check in was the most tedious and time consuming. It was very puzzling to me.

The hotel is very nice and well-maintained. Personally, we were not satisfied with the evening staf. I had the impression that only cleaning ladies work there. We booked an evening meal. We were shocked, there was nothing to eat from the menu. We ate the most expensive fast food for which we waited 55 minutes. We liked the water the most, which we also had to pay for. I will not describe more, but such ignorance is not found in any hotel

Give this
If you are expecting the resturant on a sunday think again. we had travelled all day hoping to have a nice evening and meal . Only to be told the restaurant was closed. If we wanted food we could drive into the next village or order a takeaway. They did supply cutlery and plates for the takeaway. They also did have a list of restaurants and takeaways. The room was very dated, tiles in bathroom needed regrouting. We were supposed to be in a superior room. I dont know what the basic rooms were like. and also not cleaned properly. There were crumbs on the dresser.

It is a very comfortable country house hotel. The drawback is the restaurant is presently shut on Sundays and Mondays thus food has to be obtained elsewhere.
