I wasn't sure what to expect, because it's a hostel. You don't get your own bathroom, but they are clean and well kept. Also, if you have mobility issues, this might not be for you, since there are steep stairs to the rooms. If you're looking for a quiet place outside of the Wellington bubble, this may be a good spot. The room had everything we needed and was clean. The hotel restaurant was very good and the staff were pleasant.
The only complaint was the noise. Outside the window it sounded like loud construction all night long. Very disturbing. Other than that we enjoyed our stay and thought it was an excellent location, and close to the car ferry dock to leave for the South Island in the AM.
We had a fantastic stay at this property. The room was clean and comfortable. Communication with the front desk was great, we received multiple emails prior to our arrival with check in, property, and parking information. The property is located just a short walk from Cuba St. so there were tons of shopping and dining options located within walking distance. Stayed here in 2-bedroom apartment with family, 2 kids on singles + 1 on a rollaway. It was an excellent choice for a family, with lots of space.

We were on a one-night stay in Wellington and picked the U Boutique for its convenience and price for our group of 5 adults. We were able to store our bags before check-in so we could explore the city luggage free. We arrived back at the hotel later than expected and found that the staff had already moved our bags to the room for us! Clean room and very comfortable bed. Great location, easy to walk down to restaurants, stores and Mount Victoria Park. Decent amount of onsite parking too. Kitchenette had everything you would need.
I stayed at this property for 9 days and it had everything one needs including a fridge, microwave, oven, sink and every kitchen gadget along with dishes, utensils, and pots and pans. My room was clean and well appointed. My room was essentially a studio apartment. The prices are very reasonable. The staff went out of their way to be friendly and helpful. Green Gables will be my go to stay on my next trip to Lower Hutt, Wellington.
