Nice hotel. Very attentive staff. Good rooms. Lady who spoke good English helped me a lot, not only with the hotel business, but also around the hotel. Unfortunately I did not get her name. Overall great place if you are looking for nice scenery, a lot of place to wonder around and absolutely great food in the hotel restaurant which is a great attraction by itself.
There were renovations taking place during our atay which made finding the building difficult to find as the hotel sign was covered. Make sure you don't show up early for check-in as the doors are locked during certain parts of the day and only accessible with a key you receive when checking in. This hotel provided a great experience. Although the hotel appeared to be run by a single family, the receptionist staff were pleasant and very helpful. The room was comfortable and had modern facilities. The breakfast and dining area provided excellent food. And the view of the citadel of Bitche just across the road was breath-taking. Although conveniently located, the hotel is not in a busy area.
We booked this small hotel without knowing the area. Philippsburg is not the most popular stopping place for tourists, but we liked it for it's authenticity and quiet. We walked around the village and the nearby lake and the surrounding forests were wonderful.
