Good hotel with nice secluded pool and sitting area (though we did not use). Roadside setting requires transport to nearby seaside town. Connected restaurant was average quality. Good breakfast and nice, accommodating staff. Had to leave a day early and was only asked to cover the hotel's Expedia markup.
I really enjoyed the stay at Hotel Miramare! Excellent and helpful staff. Very pretty and spacious lobby areas. Because we were three people they moved us for no extra charge to a huge apartment on the fourth floor that could easily sleep five! It was very nice -- I just wished that it was decorated like the other rooms, it was plain compared to them. But all in all, we loved it there and you will not be disappointed! These suites are very nice and luxury. Check in is a block away at Miramare hotel. We walked here from train station. Breakfast was very upscale and delicious with a beautiful view of the ocean through the picture window. We loved the easy train access to Cinque Terre (without the crowds) and Portofino, Santa Margarita.
Highly recommend Pensione Sorriso for a stay in Vernazza. Evelyn was a wonderful host and went beyond expectations in helping us enjoy our stay. The hotel has a bright breakfast area/lobby and a nice patio/garden to enjoy. We stayed in a room with a private bath and balcony. Although no sea view from the rooms, there is one from the patio and the sea is only a two or three minute walk from the hotel.
We stayed at Nazionale in Levanto for 2 nights and had an excellent experience! The location is ideal... close to all the stores and restaurants, short walk to the train, and a 3 minute walk to the beach!! The breakfast in the garden is incredible (the best we had in our 9 days in Italy!). The rooms are very clean and spacious. The staff is so accommodating and eager to assist.

My wife and I stayed at the Hotel Astoria for 6 nights in March. Overall, it is one of the very best hotels I have stayed in over many years of traveling -- solid, classy, very well-located building; comfortable room with a view of the Bay of Tigullio; a bounteous, tasty breakfast; and perhaps most important, hands-on, fully engaged hotel owners and employees who really care for their guests' comfort and enjoyment of the many attractions of Rapallo and the Ligurian coast.

We were in Santa Margherita for a wedding, and on arrival discovered that another couple we knew had also chosen this hotel, a reassuring sign in itself. After unloading (see "needed improvements" below), we found everything in excellent shape and recently renovated: the A/C worked, bath was very nice, it was even roomy for a European hotel. Good breakfast, helpful staff, and a sister hotel around the corner that has a (very basic) gym. Location was central enough to walk to the beach hotels...
Great updated space. The only downside is the noise from people returning to their rooms late at night (you can hear people talking). Otherwise great place to stay and very helpful staff.
