The Captain Stannard house is a true gem in Westbrook. There are many restaurants, shops, parks, and beaches close by. The property has a private yard and a large rear porch for relaxation. My room was impeccably clean and spacious for being the smallest one in the house. Dianne was incredibly sweet and went out of her way to help all the guests.
It was very clean. I was pleasantly surprised! Like a studio apartment with a king bed. I will definitely return in the future. The kitchen was spotless and functional, very nice. Warm and clean and relatively quiet (there was an upstairs unit).
Can use updates in bed, furniture, but most importantly it was super clean and the linens and towels fresh and clean.
Nice if you like your own space in a quiet country setting with food stores, gas, dining close by.

We live locally however needed a New Haven hotel for our wedding guests as well as ourselves. The Blake was perfect! A beautiful property centrally located to downtown, Yale, and the entertainment area of the city.

everything was excellent. The only comment I would have is that the hallways smelled funny. Maybe if they could put a more fresh aroma and that’ll be great. Staff, everything was awesome.
For a small family-run motel, this was a little gem. I was lucky to get a room there for my niece's Phd grad at Yale this past weekend. Very comfortable king bed, flat screen TV, great air-con, super shower, fridge, & microwave. I always travel with my own mug, instant coffee & tea, so I was all set. Setting is fresh air country, with flowers & evergreen shrubs around the motel. Office has a Keurig coffeemaker, ice machine, and cold drinks machine. Definitely would stay there again!
This place was perfect for a family. Clean rooms. A Walmart and Aldis directly across the street. Texas Roadhouse right next store in the same parking lot. I felt very comfortable having a drink at the restaurant next store while my teens enjoyed the pool. The front desk staff were so helpful!
I got in at 9:00 tonight, and check-in was a breeze! My room is way beyond awesome, I've not done any more than unpack, but I'm very impressed.
I was born in Wallingford, so the reason I'm here is to rent a house and stay in the area, but I highly recommend this place to people visiting the Wallingford/Meriden area.
