McLoughlin
Step back in time along McLoughlin's tree-lined streets, where 19th-century buildings tell stories of Oregon's pioneer past. History buffs will love exploring the McLoughlin House National Historic Site and other beautifully preserved landmarks. The neighborhood offers stunning views of thundering Willamette Falls, creating a dramatic backdrop for riverside walks and quiet contemplation. Cozy bed and breakfasts in converted Victorian homes provide charming accommodations with period furnishings. Small cafes and family restaurants serve comfort food, though most close early evening. While public transit is limited, the historic core is easily walkable with brick sidewalks winding between historic sites.

Two Rivers
Two Rivers lets you discover the peaceful side of Oregon City where the Willamette and Clackamas rivers meet. Stroll along quiet, tree-lined streets or spend an afternoon exploring scenic walking paths near the river confluence. The End of the Oregon Trail Interpretive Center offers a fascinating glimpse into pioneer history while nearby natural spaces invite kayaking and fishing adventures. This residential haven offers limited dining options within its boundaries, so you'll want to venture into downtown Oregon City for meals. Accommodations are primarily vacation rentals in private homes, giving you an authentic suburban experience. A car is recommended as public transit is limited, but the neighborhood's tranquil atmosphere makes it worth the extra planning.

Hillendale
Hillendale offers a quiet suburban retreat in Oregon City with tree-lined streets and spacious family homes. You'll find small parks scattered throughout the neighborhood for peaceful strolls and fresh air. While lacking major attractions within its boundaries, it serves as a perfect home base for exploring Oregon City's highlights like Willamette Falls. Vacation rentals and bed & breakfasts provide budget-friendly accommodations with homey comforts and private yards. A car is essential here, with limited dining options in the immediate area but easy access to Oregon City's restaurants just a short drive away. The peaceful atmosphere makes this neighborhood ideal for travelers seeking an authentic local experience away from tourist crowds.

Elyville
Elyville welcomes outdoor enthusiasts with its peaceful, residential vibe and natural beauty. The Salmon River Trail offers gorgeous hiking opportunities through lush Pacific Northwest landscapes. Getting around Elyville requires a car, as public transit options are limited in this quiet corner of Oregon City. While dining and shopping options are minimal within the neighborhood itself, you'll find plenty of choices just a short drive away in Oregon City's commercial areas.

Learn more about Oregon City
At the end of the Oregon Trail, history comes alive at the Interpretive Center where pioneers' stories unfold in vivid detail. The Municipal Elevator, one of only four outdoor municipal elevators in the world, lifts visitors to panoramic views of the Willamette River below. Marvel at the horseshoe-shaped Willamette Falls, a natural wonder that once powered the region's industry. The McLoughlin House offers a glimpse into the life of the 'Father of Oregon,' while downtown's historic buildings house quirky shops and local eateries. For outdoor enthusiasts, riverside trails provide perfect vantage points for watching osprey dive for fish or simply contemplating the journey that brought so many westward to this very spot.

"All was excellent"
Mark Spencer Hotel
"Staff was absolutely wonderful and made us feel very welcomed. Enjoyed our nights on the lower patio with our drinks and dinners we brought in, took part in one of the wine nights, and hotel was very nice. Great location to many walkable spots, and one of the comfiest hotel beds I’ve ever slept in. Only qualms would be the counter space in our bathroom felt minimal, and our room wasn’t refreshed or made up daily. Overall great value for what we paid. Thanks for a wonderful stay."
