This was the most welcoming hotel I have ever stayed in. From the phone call prior to checking in, to the check in, to the stay, and even the checkout. I couldn't be any happier with the service provided! Staying here is more like staying with family that you actually like. I cannot wait for my next stay!
What was unique about the property was the friendly staff. Always available and privately owned. They could not have been any more gracious and welcoming.
What we didn't like was that the walls between the rooms were very thin. You could hear everything from the room next door.
Excellent location, family ownd and they really care about the property. We have stayed here twice and both times were great. Nice suite and more importantly, very clean.
My girlfriend and I started here on our first visit to the Whiteface/Lake Placid area for new years. The hotel is very close to Whiteface ski area. Al, the owner, was very friendly and helpful, gave us plenty of information on what was in the area. The continental breakfast served every day was one of the best I've ever had! It's not a resort by any means, but the room was clean and comfortable. We will definitely be coming back!
The staff was welcoming, the room was clean and comfortable. The most memorable part of the stay was the great food in the Pub and the friendly bartender. We booked the room to ski at Whiteface Mountain. The hotel is just a five minute drive and skiing there was terrific. The Hingry Trout is a great value and I would definitely return.
Ok, so it’s Lake Placid, aka Fairyland. And in this beautiful town lies a historic hotel that’s trying to get back to the glory days. Threatened with demolition, the new owners picked up the ball so long ago dropped and are doing their best to return it to its former self. First, the service: they will go above and beyond to make your stay as pleasant and trouble-free as possible. The manager actually offered me a ride to a destination about a half mile away. No one does that..except...
The lodge is beautiful inside and out and so are the staff. My room was very comfortable and we enjoyed the s'mores and the game room. The staff were very nice and incredibly helpful. I will defenately go back, and highly recommend.
The owners and staff were delightful to interact and chat with-- The room was clean and comfortable, views were fabulous and keyless entry was convenient. Close to town and shops and restaurants.. Highly recommend!
This place was simply amazing! So my family takes at least two camping trips a year to the ADKs, this year we were concerned about some pretty bad weather coming in so decided to end the trip in a hotel. I saw this place on hotels.com and thought it would be fun for the kids to sleep in a cabin with a little loft. Well they loved it!

We stayed at the lodge for Ironman Lake Placid. It is close enough to easily get to and from the venue, but far away enough to enjoy the quiet surrounding area. Our stay was incredible. The breakfast was the best part. The blueberry muffins can’t be beat! The rooms were cozy and the lodge was peaceful. Loved hanging out at the river behind the lodge to relax. We will be back!
