I was looking for a decent, dog friendly hotel in the vicinity of Alpena. This hotel met all of my criteria and then some. It is setback off of the water some, but the property is literally right on the Lake Huron beach. Easy walk from the room to the beach. The Up North 23 restaurant is right next-door. Beautiful outside dining with a lake view. Got one meal to go from there and they catered to me every step of the way since my dog was not actually allowed inside. The hotel was typical, with a...

The place has a special ambiance, the cabin names are perfect for people with kids. It’s important to remember that these are like little cabins and not the type of room you might expect from the big hotel chains. Their price is very competitive for what you get. Unfortunately we had to leave before the restaurant opened in the morning. So I can’t comment on the food that was offered. If I’m ever in the Alpena area again I will try to book with them first.
