Learn more about Pine City
Between the Snake River and pine-covered wilderness, this small town offers a surprising dose of outdoor adventure. Paddle a canoe past beaver dams while bald eagles soar overhead. History buffs shouldn't miss the North West Company Fur Post where costumed interpreters transport you to 1800s fur trading days. The Rural School Museum provides a fascinating glimpse into frontier education. Take a picnic to Voyageur Park or explore the St. Croix Boom Site State Wayside where massive log drives once thundered through. Though just a quick trip from the Twin Cities, the lakes and forests make it feel worlds away. Locals recommend visiting during the county fair when the town's population seems to triple overnight.

Grand Casino Hinckley
10/10 Excellent
"Beautiful hotel, nice and clean with friendly staff that is decorated with local Indian culture."
Grand Hinckley Inn
10/10 Excellent
"Large property with sitting areas, huge pool and hot tub. Some TV channels didn’t have sound. No breakfast but free coffee in room and in the lobby."
The Lodge at Crooked Lake
10/10 Excellent
"Wonderul lodge. Free parking. Swimming pool, hot tub, sauna.& exercise room. Bbq grill with picnic area. Free continental breakfast. Large dining room. Decor very outdoorsy: Wood interior and exterior. Taxidermied wildlife (area fish, bears, elk, fox, etc) One particular standout is the collection of vintage boat engines displayed throughout the lobby, lounge and dining area. Interestingly the rooms have names of animals like Bullwinkle's Palace, Blue Goose, and Bucky Badger, etc (the rooms do have numbers for those of us who aren't familiar with wildlife lol). The lodge has 2 floors and an elevator. Rooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. Feels like staying in a cabin with the conveniences a hotel. Location is across the road from Crooked Lake where we went to fish and swim at the beach. The highway took us to many places in the area: Forts Folles Avoine, Knotty Pines at Clam Lake, Yellow Lodge at Yellow Lake, Burnett Dairy"
