Mitte
Trier's Mitte district invites history buffs to walk in the footsteps of Romans and medieval merchants. The imposing black Porta Nigra gate stands guard over cobblestone streets leading to the magnificent cathedral and ancient Imperial Baths. Market squares buzz with café conversations while UNESCO-protected ruins whisper stories from Germany's oldest city. Dining options range from traditional German gasthauses serving local Riesling to international fare, all within the charming pedestrian zone. Hotels in converted medieval buildings offer modern comforts within historic walls. The car-free center makes exploring a breeze, with all major sites just minutes apart by foot.

Altstadt Trier
Trier's Altstadt is a living time capsule where ancient Roman ruins mingle with medieval charm. Stroll through the black Porta Nigra gate, marvel at the soaring Gothic Cathedral, and people-watch in bustling Hauptmarkt Square. The imposing red-brick Basilica of Constantine stands as a reminder of the city's 2,000-year history as Germany's oldest city. The pedestrian-friendly streets make exploring a breeze, with most attractions within a 10-minute walk. Traditional German gasthauses serve local Riesling and hearty meals, while boutique hotels in converted medieval buildings offer authentic stays. The Moselle River provides scenic paths for evening strolls when the tourist crowds thin out.

Trier-Nord
Trier-Nord invites you to step away from tourist crowds into a slice of authentic German life. Stroll through quiet streets lined with red-roofed houses and budding creative spaces. History buffs will appreciate the neighborhood churches like St. Maximin and St. Paulin, while sports enthusiasts can catch events at Arena Trier. Local gasthauses serve hearty German fare at wallet-friendly prices, and neighborhood bakeries offer fresh morning pretzels. Family-run pensions and apartment rentals provide affordable lodging with genuine hospitality. Regular buses connect you to Trier's center in just 15-20 minutes, making this peaceful residential district an ideal home base.

Trier Ost
The Trier Ost neighborhood offers attractions such as Trier Roman Amphitheatre and Imperial Roman Baths.

Süd
Süd combines quiet residential charm with university energy, just outside Trier's bustling center. Wander through the leafy Nells Park or hit the trails at Mattheiser Forest for a nature fix. History buffs can explore Barbara Thermae ruins and the beautiful Herz Jesu Kirche while students bring life to local cafés serving hearty German classics. Student-friendly gastropubs and cozy bakeries offer authentic meals at prices lower than downtown. The neighborhood connects easily to Trier's center via frequent buses, though its tree-lined streets are perfect for exploring on foot. Accommodation options include family-run guesthouses and apartment rentals with genuine German hospitality.

B&B Hotel Trier
"Basic hotel, it has everything you need for a short stay. Hotel is located in quite area."
Nells Park Hotel
"Nice hotel and property. Restaurant was fine, but nothing extraordinary. Given how our climate is developing, it is in my view no longer acceptable to offer hotel rooms and facilities that do not have airconditioning - certainly not for a hotel that strives to operate at this level."
ibis Styles Trier
"This was my first time staying alone in a hotel in Europe, so I needed some help understanding the lights, which the staff was very willing to explain. I returned at 4am from an event, and felt very safe as I figured out how to use my card to enter the hotel, which was wonderful....I asked for the room to be cleaned the next day on my way out, and forgot all about it until I returned, and my room was immaculate. I asked for a fan in my room, it appeared. Everything about my stay, from Lara at the reception desk to whomever cleaned my room, was wonderful, and I would highly recommend Ibis Hotel to anyone staying in Trier."

"Clean room"
Mercure Hotel Trier Porta Nigra
"Good location close to town centre, with nice view of the Roman gate. Quite dated throughout, average breakfast, no fridge, the safe didn’t work. Helpful staff gave me good parking space."
Romantik Hotel zur Glocke
"Beautiful, clean and comfortable room. The welcome glass of local sparkling wine was very appreciated. All of the staff that we interacted with were helpful and friendly. Highly recommend this hotel in the heart of Trier"
Hotel Paulin
"This is a lovely little hotel about 5min walk from the train station and 1 min from the epic Roman Remains, pedestrianised shopping/eating area. The location was perfect and the lady at Reception was lovely, very helpful and knowledgeable about Trier. We both slept well on the comfortable beds. The shower room was great, good water pressure. This is a good old fashioned hotel - there is no WiFi in the rooms but there is in the lobby. (But there is a telephone and landline in the room!!)"
Hotel Porta Nigra
"Excellent location."
Vienna House Easy by Wyndham Trier
"Staff was wonderful. Room was spacious. Only issue was that the air conditioning did not work."
