This B&B excelled in every way. As grandparents traveling with a twelve-year old, we praise Sue and staff in making us feel beyond welcome. The pool and the outdoor heated tub absorbed much of our granddaughter's excess energy, as did playing with the resident Rottweiler Axel. The grounds are lovely-lots of holly and ivy- and the rooms, immaculate and full of charm. The traditional Yorkshire breakfast is a plus for hardy appetites.
While planning our trip to the UK, my daughter and I wanted to either stay at a Manor house or Castle. Middlethorpe Hall was the perfect choice. It is several miles outside York, but less than 10 minutes by uber or taxi.
The staff was gracious and solicitous. We arrived just in time for tea. The food was fantastic, generous, and the location in the the ball room facing the beautiful green lawn was exactly what we had hoped for.
Our room was not in the main house, but in another building...
Everything about our stay here was great. The staff were very helpful and caring. The room itself was outstanding - even had a view of York Minster. There was a tea service in the room including cookies and chocolates.The breakfast was the typical English breakfast which is a lot of food and it was all delicious. I would gladly stay here again.
The family room was lovely. Double bed for the adults and two singles for the teens with s sitting area and desk. Included breakfast had lots of variety. Room was clean and quiet. The restaurant had wonderful food with so many different options and portions were huge. No issue finding space in the car park even though they had an event taking place when we arrived.
I thoroughly enjoyed my one night stay.
The downside was the food from the bar, which was not up to the Hotel standards. I did talk with the manager and he compensated my meal which was kind. The reason I mentioned this is so that they can improve the cooking method to make the food more palatable.
The two young ladies at the front desk were charming and very, very helpful.
I would recommend this Hotel to anyone who asks.
Very convenient place to stay if visiting York. Two minute walk to the walled city. Nice, offstreet, parking at a very reasonable price. Staff couldn't be friendlier. Would definitely stay there again if we went back.
Great for the price, excellent location. Rooms very quiet even though located in a very busy area. We were disappointed the hotel restaurant is. It open fridays and saturdays
