Svartaborg was the perfect place to celebrate 30 years with my wife. I needed help with a surprise piece of jewelry waiting for us when we arrived and Rósa went out of her way to make that happen. She even delivered on her promise the lights would be there the night of our anniversary.
Overall is very good. And the house is old, so cooking may cause a lot of smells. Also have to walk up to stairs no elevator. Not friendly for people who have legs problems. Otherwise, very thing is good. House is very cozy.
We really enjoyed our stay at Guesthouse Brekka. Location is convenient to both the Myvatn area and Husvik. Room was clean and comfortable - loved the horses grazing in the fields nearby. We had a wonderful dinner at their restaurant (you can make reservations ahead of time or at check-in) and the breakfast included in our rate was also delicious. They also offer laundry if staying more than 1 night. Thank you for a lovely stay :)
My husband and I found the movie Eurovision Song Contest: Story of Fire Saga during the dark months of COVID. It quickly became a favorite feel good movie for us. When I started to plan for my husband's birthday, I decided "We're going to Iceland!" We rented a car to drive from Reykjavik to see this little gem (5 1/2 hours drive each way). I cannot say enough about this town and this little hotel.

I had a great, comfortable stay here. The property is very clean and well maintained. Great location and a few steps away from the harbor. The hosts are very pleasant, helpful & make sure your stay is comfortable. Will definitely return.
I found this place as I was looking for a central location not too far from Husavik or Myvatn after spending a night in Akureyri. We spent 2 nights at this farm house and absolutely loved it. The host family was unbelievably sweet and have maintained the property in perfect shape. We saw the northern lights from the open air hot tub. Great breakfasy, spacious acco and close to all the sightseeing nearby. Definitely 5 stars!
It’s peaceful with the best views. Perfect for a couple looking for quiet and a cozy stay. The stairs to the loft are pretty narrow and steep but we didn’t mind it at all.
I wish we had more time to explore the area. Host ha d a list of suggestions of things to do which is really helpful.
Will definitely stay here again if we ever come back in the future.
Beautiful views! Brand new hotel in akureyi. Very large rooms. With a private bathroom. Nicest hotel I stayed at while in Iceland. Very clean! Wonderful breakfast. The owner was superb! The views from every window of the hotel were amazing.
The property itself is really lovely, however the ceiling to floor room windows were amazing. The aurora came to life and we were able to watch it from the comfort of our room. Once in a lifetime amazing experience.
