Learn more about Charlestown
Escape to pristine beaches where locals call their slice of coastal paradise 'C-Town.' The Ninigret National Wildlife Refuge offers trails where herons pose like statues in salt marshes. Kayakers glide through peaceful ponds before heading to waterfront shacks serving seafood so fresh it practically introduces itself. East Beach rewards those willing to venture beyond the more crowded Charlestown Town Beach with expansive shoreline and fewer footprints. Summer evenings might find you stargazing at Frosty Drew Observatory, where telescopes reveal celestial wonders above this dark-sky haven. Ninigret Park hosts events that bring the community together, though locals will tell you the real magic happens in autumn when tourists depart but the beauty remains.

Two Trees Inn
"I apologize for the lengthy review, but I intentionally waited until after multiple stays to write it because I wanted to give the hotel a fair chance and make sure my experience wasn’t based on just one visit. Shockingly, despite the condition of the building, we continued to come back—and there is one reason for that: the incredible staff. I honestly cannot say enough about them. I have rarely seen a staff so genuinely committed to customer service, their guests, and the overall success of a hotel. They consistently go above and beyond and are doing the absolute best they can with a property that desperately needs attention and investment. Unfortunately, the building itself is in serious need of repairs, maintenance, and updating. Across six stays and nine rooms, we have encountered rooms where the air conditioning didn’t work, outlets didn’t work, phones didn’t work, bathroom lights and fans didn’t work, and other basic room functions were not operational. Most importantly, none of the rooms—including my most recent “deluxe” room—had a microwave or a mirror outside the bathroom. We have yet to stay in a room where everything functioned as it should. What makes this particularly frustrating is that this property has so much potential. The staff clearly care and work incredibly hard to compensate for issues that are completely outside of their control. At this point, they are truly the reason to stay here. I sincerely hope ownership invests in the repairs and upgrades this"
Howard Johnson by Wyndham Middletown Newport Area
"Clean room, great continental breakfast."
The Fox Tower at Foxwoods
"The room was clean and modern. Some how we wound up in an accessible room so there was a roll in shower and the beds were low, but it was fine. The blackout curtains were amazing - I woke up at 8 and had no idea the sun was up! Little bonus amenities like lotion, shower caps and complimentary water were nice. It felt safe because you needed your card to get in the elevator. Make sure to park in the same tower as the hotel so you are close when you arrive - or use the valet!"
