Learn more about Great Neck

Venture beyond the Gold Coast mansions that inspired Fitzgerald's Gatsby to discover this North Shore peninsula's surprising depth. Middle Neck Road buzzes with upscale boutiques and restaurants where locals debate New York City politics over coffee. Kings Point Park offers peaceful woodland trails and waterfront views that feel impossibly tranquil so close to Manhattan. The Gold Coast Arts Center hosts exhibitions and performances that punch above their weight for a suburban venue. Saddle Rock Grist Mill provides a glimpse into colonial history, while the peninsula's nine distinct villages each maintain their own particular character. When the city beckons, the Long Island Rail Road delivers you to Manhattan in under 30 minutes – though many residents find little reason to leave.

"My stay at Pod Times Square was very easy and without issue. It was clean and quiet. My only issue was with the floor of the bathroom getting wet because of the length of the shower curtain. However the staff was happy to bring me fresh towels both days since I need to use a bunch to dry floor. I would easily stay again."

"Great experience! It was a great location, close to everything in Midtown. The building was older but well maintained. I would describe it as somewhere between a hostel and a hotel. I had a bunkroom with a shared bathroom. The room was surprisingly roomy for what it was. It's a basic setup, no fridge or microwave or anything, but there is a sink and air conditioning, which is all I care about. The room was clean and comfortable. I was concerned initially about sharing a bathroom, but honestly, it was cleaner than a lot of private bathrooms I've used in hotels. The cleaning staff was on top of things! It also has lights in the room to show that a bathroom is in use and there was never a problem getting a bathroom when I needed it. Some people have mentioned their room was noisy, but I was blessed because I had no problem with noise and our floor was full. My only wish was that they had a filtered water station in the lobby, but hey, you can't have everything. Would absolutely stay here again. The staff are very helpful and friendly."

Empire Hotel

Empire Hotel

8/10 Good
"The location of this hotel is unbeatable! It's lively and I had a room overlooking Dante Park and Lincoln Center. The room was on the smaller side with no real closet, an ironing board laying against a wall in the room and the bathroom is in desperate need up a makeover- not because it's out dated but because it's run down. The bathroom vanity is delaminating, the bathroom door has visible signs of trapped moisture, and the shower drain cover was not in tacked. I asked for a feather pillow and was given a down alternative pillow, not a feather one. On the upside, the room was quiet (and my room was right off the elevators). I felt I was paying for the location and not the room or amenities because it was over priced based on the room itself."

"Staff at check-in and check-out were all very nice. During our stay, any questions we had were all graciously answered. Loved that there was a separate baggage check to keep our luggage safe when we had to check out, but a few extra hours before our flight back home. The uber shuttle pick up spot is conveniently right across the street from the hotel, and the hotel is perfectly located in a nice, central location to Times Square and Central Park, along with tons of excellent pizza spots. Very nice hotel with amazing views, would definitely stay here again!"

"Room was clean but very tight space around the beds. Not alot of space to walk around. Staff was friendly. Vending machine took my money, had to go out front to vender and get drink. Hotel was clean, air conditioning worked great! Time square is right down street. Dunkin’ is right across the street, that was a plus! Went and got pumpkin spice latte every morning!"
