Right next door, Korakuen Garden unfolds with picture-perfect ponds and tea houses that'll make your camera work overtime. Art lovers can lose themselves in the Yumeji Art Museum while history buffs explore ancient temples tucked between tree-lined streets. Traditional ryokans and boutique hotels offer tatami rooms with garden views for an authentic Japanese stay. Getting around is a breeze with JR Okayama Station nearby, plus walking paths along the Asahi River perfect for evening strolls.

Kita Ward
Kita Ward buzzes with business energy around Okayama Station's soaring glass cathedral. Bullet trains whoosh in and out while suited professionals navigate the clean, orderly streets. Nearby Omotesando arcade tempts with everything from electronics to local Bizen pottery, and cultural gems like Okayama Castle and Korakuen Garden offer a perfect counterbalance to the commercial hustle. Business hotels dominate accommodation options, with efficient rooms and central locations. Getting around couldn't be easier thanks to excellent rail connections, city buses, and highly walkable streets, though the district quiets considerably after the workday ends.

Minami Ward
Minami Ward invites you to slip into everyday Japanese life with peaceful residential streets and cultural treasures. The famous Korakuen Garden dazzles with stone bridges and koi ponds, while Mt. Tsuneyama and the Asahi River offer natural escapes. Traditional shrines dot the neighborhood, creating perfect spots for quiet reflection away from tourist crowds. Local eateries serve authentic Okayama specialties like kibidango sweets and fresh river fish. Stay in traditional ryokans with tatami rooms or boutique guesthouses that offer tea ceremonies. Getting around is easy with nearby JR Okayama Station connections and scenic walking paths along the riverfront.

Stroll through blocks of traditional storefronts where colorful signs and shop displays create a lively atmosphere. The pedestrian-friendly shotengai offers everything from local crafts to regional foods, perfect for travelers seeking authentic shopping experiences away from typical tourist spots. Most shops welcome visitors from 10am to 8pm, with casual eateries serving affordable lunch sets throughout the day. The arcade's glass canopy keeps shopping comfortable regardless of weather. Okayama's tram system connects Omotecho to nearby attractions like Korakuen Garden and Okayama Castle when you're ready to explore further.

Higashi Ward
Higashi Ward blends authentic Japanese living with cultural treasures that most tourists miss. Wander through the breathtaking Okayama Korakuen Garden, one of Japan's three most beautiful landscape gardens, where meticulously manicured lawns meet tranquil ponds. The imposing black walls of Okayama Castle rise nearby, offering city views and samurai exhibits. Discover hidden gems like Saidaijikannon-in Temple and Ani Shrine as you explore this peaceful district. Traditional family-run spots serve local specialties like barazushi and white peaches at reasonable prices. Choose between business hotels and authentic ryokan near the garden for your stay. The area connects easily to JR Okayama Station with local buses serving residential neighborhoods, making exploration a breeze.

Daiwa Roynet Hotel Okayama Ekimae
"This is a very nice hotel for the money. Good sized rooms, very clean and well organised. The staff were very polite and helpful. The hotel is right next to the train station and it is a flat 2k walk to the Korakuen garden."

HOTEL MYSTAYS Okayama
"Bathroom flooded every day. Couldn’t tell if it was the bath or aircon outlet (which the lovely reception guy said), but every time we took a bath there’d be a few centimetres of water on the bathroom floor. Cleared pretty quickly. Still a bit annoying. Hotel is in a great location, close to train station / tram stops / shopping mall. Breakfast buffet standard but reliable. Staff very helpful. Would definitely stay again."
Smile Hotel Okayama

"Centre of the city, close to the main shopping streets, good restaurants and amusement areas."
Dormy Inn Okayama
"The staff was helpful and kind right as we entered the lobby. When for a recommendations for dinner they not only made reservations on our behalf, they wanted to make sure we got there and went out of their way to give us a photo of the place and drew a detailed map for us. The onsen was wonderfull. They had everything one could wish for. 3 bathes: outdoorish, indoor hot and indoor cold. They had all the creams and soaps one could need. The free ice cream at the end of the onsen was the cherry on top. A great free washing machine."

"Convenient to trains and shopping. My room had a bit of a locker room smell, though."

"殆ど良かったです。コスパの面では文句無し。スタップも親切。ただしお風呂のロッカーはレニューアルが必要かなと思います。"
