Bustling location

Lobby was under renovation with temporary front desk. Staff was very helpful. Warning - there is no parking at this location - only drop-off and it is very bustling being a block away from Les Galeries Lafayette so perfect for a shopping trip. Metro stop a block away. Room and bathroom were clean and good size - bed comfy and linen crisp. Lots of cafes and restaurants with terrasses within walking distance while crowded had available drop-in space. Morning in-hotel continental breakfast had good variety. Front desk arranged for airport taxi pick up.

The property is located in a good shopping district..perfect if you are in Paris to shop.Rooms are good size but very basic & old. However the Hotel itself is tired looking, customer service is very poor. House Keeping not the best.. If anyone is to stay here, request for rooms on 1st or 2nd floor..Elevators dont work well and alot of stairs climbing.. If you have luggage, this will ne a nightmare.. I rate this hotel 6/10.. Would i stay here again? - Yes, if in paris for strictly shopping, but No if i plan to visit Paris to relax & be pampered a bit with good customer service & amenities.

I got a balcony and early check in which was fantastic. Great location. Very loud outside and drilling even at 11:30pm! Ambulances, the whole bit. Otherwise I slept pretty well considering. Clean rooms, perfect for one person.

We were in Paris for just 2-days & 3-nights and wanted somewhere reasonably priced and convenient to the metro and, hopefully, not to far from some Parisian attractions. The Excelsior filled the bill for us. The room was immaculate. The staff was welcoming and helpful. The metro station was a block away and the Opera was 3 blocks. Two nice cages where across the street with excellent breakfasts. It will be a serious consideration on our next trip to Paris

We were not informed that the property was under construction when we booked it. The stairs were constantly blocked by painters and the paint fumes were strong even in our room. The air conditioning in our room was broken and instead we had a fan which did nothing for the extreme heat. The elevator is TINY and can fit maximum 3 people squished like sardines. But the painters didn’t want to let us pass them on the stairs so it was a constant battle. For one day, the elevator broke down and people were carrying their luggage up and down all the stairs themselves. We were on the 5th floor, so running up and down wasn’t easy…especially for the two people over 70 we were traveling with. The front desk staff was very nice and great at giving us directions and recommendations, but they never acknowledged the construction or the broken elevator. On one occasion, we asked the front desk if the painters were still blocking the stairs because we had occasions where we got three flights up and the painters refused to let us pass and we had to come all the way back down (we had more people in our group than could fit in the elevator, so some of us always had to take the stairs), and the front staff seemed completely unaware of the painters. Super disappointing.

Room was as expected, small but clean. Bathroom sink drain very slow . Nice balcony on 5th floor, but elevator broke the 1st day and we climbed 5 flights of stairs the rest of our 3 day trip. Was never told that free breakfast was offered on the last day until checkout. Had already purchased elsewhere at that point; no comp was offered. Staff nice, but poor communication kept this from being a better experience.

La Peste

They put me in a first floor room that was just above Le Brasserie below. I came into the hotel feeling great, but as soon as I got into my room I realized it was a dusty old spot that reeked of cigarette death. Opening the window would make it worse, as the room was right above a popular smoking spot. I booked a double bed, but they gave me a room with two twins pushed together, and that sucks, a lot of hotels do it, but it sucks. I hate sleeping on a kid’s bed when I pay for a hotel. I thought the hotel had a gym, but they didn’t. I do respect that they gave me the money I paid for breakfast back when I saw that it wasn’t worth it, meager offering pour le petit dejeuner, but that was decent of you. Two nights of stuffy dusty living that I am so glad to have left behind me for another hotel. I couldn’t breathe well in that room, maybe other rooms at The Excelsior Opera are better on higher floors, but mine was unbearable and making me sick. If you are a cig smoker maybe you would love it, I definitely didn’t.

Fantastic! Great location being a 2 minute walk to Metro and Galleries Lafayette. Wonderful staff, friendly and polite to guests. Comfy, clean and well appointed rooms with great facilities.
