This was the worst hotel room I’ve ever booked. I warn you to ignore the slight price savings and stay somewhere/anywhere else! Wingate should inspect the property and its management practices immediately, and hotels.com should consider de-listing this property until conditions have changed.
My housemate visited his family in Massillon, Ohio over Thanksgiving for a 4 night stay. When he got to his room, it smelled funny, there were holes in the wall and the door’s safety latch was inoperable. I told him to request a different room. The next room had a cracked door latch, hanging light fixture and a moldy bathroom ceiling. The next day while visiting family, he notices a series of bed bug bites. He slept on a lumpy couch for that night and the rest of the trip. When he returned the next day to check out, the front desk clerk William refused to issue a refund for the remaining two nights and tried to tell him that the six bites weren’t really from bed bugs. The manager “Danny” was “unavailable”. Attempts to contact Wingate failed after an hour of IVR games. Hotels.com was sympathetic but no one from the property or Wingate would return their inquiry. We were charged for all four nights.
Wingate of Canton is not being maintained, filthy and infested with blood-sucking insects. Its management is indifferent, so don’t expect this to change. Is every Wingate so poorly overseen?
